So sad for these kids. Two addicts for parents and at least one who is batshite.

That sounds similar to that Apple advert from years ago whcih showed a concept of the future where you would have a true conversation way of working with a computer. We are slowly, but surely moving there.

    "Computer! Computer? Hello computer"

    "Just use the keyboard"

    "Keyboard? How quaint"

Hello broken bones and doctor bills:D

He's probably under 20 ... bones don't break that easy they bend still. Also they think their indestructible! You remember those times right?! ;)

That is a SERIOUS board. I'm from the old school of Schmidt Stixx and Powell & Peralta. I'm looking for a board with totem poles on either side of a temple. I'm unsure which of those companies made them Stixx or Peralta but its hasn't been in production since 87. if anybody knows and can find the name/picture it would be helpful (Yes these where the days when the young adult Tony Hawk ripped the scene just prior to showing that the 720 was possible and doable with STYLE).

    My wish list:

    1) Have my current job past February 2011 - was granted I'm here until May 2012. OT is looking up and a raise. I can NOW finally invest and debt is getting paid and lower :D .

    2) I'd LOVE to have a 13" MBP with a Core i5 and equal or better than 310/310M Nvidia that is current. My Al_MB is pushing hard in Logic Pro 9.0.1.

    3. and most important wish:

1 WEEK during this Xmas holiday's ... to have
    a) EVERY poor child under 19 fed healthy and hearty!
    b) Every homeless person to have above and a warm & safe shelter and shower, a swap for smelly clothes! I HATE having to not go into a store or shun them on the subway because they SMELL so bad. They ARE still human beings and nobody is above them. Sure most made STUPID decisions to end up that way, or life was harsh all at once and no recourse to be a bum. I STILL remember not too long ago I lived in a shelter for 1.5yrs had nothing more than 3 days of clothes no job and no money. I stole for used clothes only and ate when I could BUT I worked my ASS off to get the ********* job and go back to school. MANY of you that have wealth take things for granted and within just a few days can loose it all. BUMS have one thing going for them ... either they don't know HOW or just self respect society NOT to attempt robbing a bank. if successful they can clean up - if not then at least food and shelter is gauranteed, even some basic health needs are covered - but it puts a strain on our taxes.
    c) FAMINE to be put to a ground STOP in ALL the world just for a week.

#3 is an important wish to my heart - I have no resources to do it myself, no energy to convince those with cash that its important and unfortunately hard to trust those doing it actually can have a life doing this for a few years and NOT get paid; yet enjoy travelling to so many countries. HOW the HELL does RICE solve hunger and provide nutritional value to those with bloated bellies and starving for months/!?!?!?!

Do some research on what tall buildings do to cell towers/signal and the ability for your phone to handle constant hand-offs between thousands of towers. Trust me, sky scrapers make it impossible for Verizons, T-mobile, or any other carriers service to be much better than the rest. The other carriers are just better about hiding their shortcomings from the public.

    HORSE *****!
I HAD NOT ONE DROPPED CALL WITH VERIZON IN 5 YEARS.

No he is right. They all struggle with sky scrapers. Verizon happens to use a stronger signal than AT&T so it cuts threw building a little better but on top of that Verizon does not have to deal with towers being over loaded by iPhone users.
Most of the drop calls happen during tower hand offs and if the tower you need to be handed off to is max out well your call gets dropped.

Now if you want example of Verizon problems I was getting dropped calls all the time for months a few years ago with verizon and dump them for sprint.

As for example of building problems on another carrier sprint I could give you a this strip on campus about 50'x50' that as soon as you walked into it your call would drop. Same area multiple sprint phones multiple calls. Just a random dead zone on campus for sprint. AT&T had at least one spot on campus that was almost the exact same way. Skyscrappers make it insane for all carriers to deal with and on top of that you have tons of tower hand offs.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new chair!

It was easy to put together and super comfy.
It'd be even more comfy if I was taller...lol.

Looks so nice with my desk and is much better than the "cardboard with fabric" I was sitting on before.

Actually Nasdaq is an index, not a trading cite. The NYSE is an exchange (much like one we'd find in London, Tokyo, etc). What Apple is not listed under is the Dow 30 (commonly referred to only as "the Dow" or "Dow Jones Industrial Average"), which lists the 30 largest companies of the US based on industry and importance (current ones include WalMart, GE, CitiGroup, etc).

Nasdaq is first and foremost an electronic stock trading medium, but also an index. You needn't elaborate on what the NYSE is, I have a bachelor's degree in finance and work in commodities.

You need my approval to sell the sandwhich shop which I (in God-form) have given you. Consider it denied.

as others have mentioned, i'm a little surprised that only the 17inch model has a 7200rpm drive option. i'm going to check with apple directly to see if i can get a custom 15inch with a 7200 drive. my audio apps don't work well with the anything slower.

having said that, the ram, fw800 and dual layer burner are a nice addition

That is weird but according to the website Apple.com in the specs page, the 15" has the following options
    -120GB @5400 RPM
    -160GB @5400 RPM Add $100
    -200GB @7200 RPM Add $200

    While the 17" has
    -100GB @7200 RPM Subtract $100
    -160GB @5400 RPM
    -200GB @4200 RPM Add $100

How is that different from how Apple "acquired" iOS and OS X ? Yet no one is going to claim Apple didn't build those 2 OSes.

Again, some of you guys need to put the Google hate to rest. This is not the thread for it and to diminish their efforts on Chrome OS and Android is to do the same to OS X since the histories and origins are similar (acquisitions and open source projects).

And I will not stand by anyone who does that to Apple's efforts with OS X.

Google bought Android and with Schmidt on the Apple board hoovering up ideas from the iPhone, Android became what it is today.

Anybody who refutes that is either blind or stupid.

I loathe Google for their Microsoft-esque lack of imagination, just as much as I loathe Samsung and their utterly lazy attempt at R&D for their Galaxy S smartphones, the logic of which equates to:

iPhone 3GS design + we like it + let's copy it + bigger screen + cheap imitation look = Galaxy S.

iPhone 4 design + we like it + let's copy it + bigger screen + cheap imitation look = Galaxy S2.

Again, anybody who cannot see the obvious similarities is either blind or stupid.

    As expected.

Yep. As an added bonus, LTE networks might actually be available in more than select locations sometime around launch. They're not missing much this year.

Not sure I understand, I've had 4G on my Evo for over a year now...

    Hrm....

The "4G" on your Evo is WiMax, a completely different standard being pushed by Clearwire and supported by Sprint. It allowed Sprint to get a "4G" network up and running fairly quickly, but it's likely to be dead-ended with the proliferation of LTE and/or Clearwire blowing through its venture capital. Sprint's CEO has already said they'd be open to switching over to LTE in the future, which they really should do or end up being left behind in a similar way to their CDMA situation (except without Verizon to back them up).

Looks like mostly bug fixes. Only thing new I have found is the result of putting a window out of focus.

iCal is still same design too.

Is there an option to make iCal look normal?

OR another reason: Apple decided to go verizon exclusive and ATT is shunned.

That sounds like a very solid business decisions. I predict Apple making billions with that move.

Well obviously none of us here are going to be terribly interested if it's not Mac-compatible. That said, Apple has a lot to lose, so I hope they adapt and compete well.

They will. Microsoft doing this will definitely cause Apple to be less stingy with the R&D and get some great small products to market.

God, I really hope that Leopard is more of an upgrade than Tiger was.

802.11n isn't due for ratification until 2008. There is a "Draft N v 2.0" due out next year that is supposedly close to what 802.11n will be but there's no guarantee anything will work until the final spec is released in 2008.

Yep, but the new iMacs are shipping with 802.11n's installed. Plus I'd imagine that Apple has its own standards about being compatible with its own stuff (iTV, etc).
